CSKA Moscow's and P22's Head Performance Specialist Kostas Chatzichristos was one of the elite invited speakers at the presitgious event organized by Acibadem Group. The symposium, the first one to be held in Europe dedicated to basketball, took place in Istanbul on May 19th and 20th.
Kostas presented CSKA's approach to in-season injury "prevention" program design. During his talk, he emphasized the importance of strength training in injury prevention, the need to customize the program to each player's needs, the necessity to evalute the physical status of the player every day and adjust the training program accordingly. Finally, it was stressed that the best and most effectice "injury prevention" program is just a well designed, "hollistic", individualized physical preparation program, executed consistently through out the year.
Some of the other speakers included Milwuakee Bucks Tim O'Leary, New York Knicks Performance Analyst Shimon Ishikawa, the orhtopedic surgeon of Maccabi Tel Aviv Guy Morag, orthopedic surgeon Dimitris Tsoukas, strength coaches of Unics Kazan and Daroussafaka Marcus Lidener and Oscars Ernsteins and many other prominent scientists, coaches and basketball personalities.
We hope that the European basketball community will continue to explore better ways to help the players and advance science not only in Europe, but world wide.
